CUAS showPOD Pilsen Storefront Collaboration with Pete Skvara

The Chicago Urban Arts Society asked me to participate in their Pop-Up Storefront Gallery project here in the Pilsen Area of Chicago. Because of the budget restrains I invited Pete Skvara to the table. We took a couple evenings and a bunch of salvaged materials from over the years and made it happen. The result is a twenty-by-ten foot installation. Cost of supplies to create and install the installation… zero dollars. Between Pete and I and our hoarder habits, we had enough material to freak out at just about any size without going broke. Here is a link to the flickr set of process and final photos.

Get It Together @ Co-Prosperity Sphere

I curated a show at the infamous warehouse gallery known as Co-Prosperity Sphere here in Chicago’s Bridgeport area. I made the mistake of not only curating the show but also creating new work! Who am I kidding… there is no way anyone can have enough time to make some work, curate, and promote a show simultaneously. Somehow I made it work. The show turned out pretty stellar. Pictured above are the show flier and grocery store installation which were both done in collaboration with the very talented Adrianne Goodrich. Also my hand painted five-by-eight foot Get It Together beer caddy for the front window. Check out more photos as well as the press release and a short video about the show at getittogethershow.com.

Pivot Boutique Hooray Mural

Mural for Pivot Boutique Chicago

I was very excited when Pivot asked me to do an in-store mural for the holiday season. Because I love layering and using crazy materials, I decided to make it more like a tapestry rather than a mural to avoid the chance of completely screwing up their walls. This sucker is over 8 feet tall and over 4 feet wide!

The Post Family at Letterform

On March 1st, 2008 Letterform generously gave all of us at The Post Family right to frolic in their space. Images above are of my installation for the show. Thanks to Andy-Bear and Sirens for the photos. To see more photos from the event go here and/or here.
